Bob Jones of Metropolitan Pump passes away

Elora, Ont. – The Canadian pump and ground water industries are mourning the loss of Bob Jones, founder of Metropolitan Pump Co. Limited, who passed away on Nov. 15.

Mr. Jones, who established Metropolitan Pump in Waterloo, Ont., in 1977 and was president and owner until 1993, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Elora, Ont., in his 94th year.

He was a veteran of the Second World War who fought in Holland and Germany with the 13th Field Artillery Regiment 3rd Division. Later in life he was honoured with a lifetime membership in the Elora Lions Club and the Canadian Association of Pump Manufacturers.

Visitation will take place at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Elora on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. A celebration of Mr. Jones’ life will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Elora on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 12 p.m.
