WaterTAP names Peter Gallant president and CEO

May 20, 2015, Toronto – Dr. Peter Gallant has been appointed
president and chief executive officer of the Water Technology Acceleration
Project (WaterTAP).

president and chief executive officer of the Water Technology Acceleration
Project (WaterTAP).

Kenneth A. Morrison, WaterTAP board chair, in a statement on the organization's website. “He is a
skillful, seasoned entrepreneur and leader with extensive experience in the
global water technology sector. He is primed to lead WaterTAP as we expand our
plans to provide value and support to growing companies.”

technologies, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead WaterTAP. This
organization plays a unique role that recognizes the value of water as a critical
driver of economic growth,” Gallant said. “I look forward to working with the

accelerate, and celebrate Ontario’s thriving water technology sector.”

 

As the founding president and chief executive officer of
Kingston, Ont.-based Pathogen Detection Systems Inc., Gallant played a lead
role in commercializing advanced microbiological detection systems. In 2009 the
company was acquired by Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies and became ENDETEC
– the global water quality sensor platform for Veolia Water. From 2009 to 2015,
he served as vice-president of business development and regulatory affairs for
ENDETEC.

 

Prior to joining the WaterTAP team, he served on the
organization’s board since its inception, and held the role of vice-chair until
his retirement from the board in early 2015. He has served in several advisory
roles for government agencies and start-up companies, and currently serves as
co-Chair of the American Water Works Association Steering Committee on Barriers
to Innovation in the Water Sector.

 

Gallant, who holds bachelors and masters degrees and a PhD in
electrical and computer engineering from Queen’s University, also is an adjunct
instructor at the Queen’s School of Business, where he lectures on
entrepreneurship, strategy and new venture finance.
