Africa has sufficient groundwater, but millions are unable to access it

Some countries good for more than 50 years

The African continent’s groundwater supply is sufficient enough to allow most of its countries to survive a five-year drought, but there are underlying issues preventing millions from accessing safe and clean water daily. Research by WaterAid and the British Geological Survey states say that there is enough groundwater in Africa to sustain some countries for more than 50 years of drought, but issues such as under-investment in services to obtain groundwater and poorly managed resources stand in the way of people being able to access the water.
