Algal blooms prompt water quality advisory for residents in West Kelowna, B.C.
Turbidity affecting chlorine disinfection

Kelowna, B.C. – An early season algal bloom has led to a water quality advisory in West Kelowna. Increased turbidity in the Rose Valley reservoir has prompted the advisory. The turbidity has adversely affected the chlorine disinfection process. Vulnerable residents, including children and the elderly, are advised to use boiled water for such practices as teeth brushing, food preparation and washing fruit and vegetables.
