Allotted irrigation water in Alberta farm communities not enough in some areas
Agricultural operations look to buy needed water elsewhere

Taber, Alta. – Agricultural operations in parts of Alberta are unable to grow their crops with only eight inches of water being allocated by the St. Mary River Irrigation District (SMRID). One farmer says she needs at least 18 inches to grow her potato crop, but the restriction is based on the dry winter impacting snowpack and reservoir storage.
