Researchers observing groundwater flowing beneath the West Antarctic Ice Sheet on land to the Ross Ice Shelf floating off the Siple Coast is a greater amount than was previously estimated. The goal of the University of California research team is to incorporate ice flow model data to see how subglacial groundwater affects ice-sheet velocity. The thickness of the basin of groundwater is estimated to be one kilometre. Physics Today report | READ MORE
