With up to 600 horsepower (477 kilowatts) under the hood, an improved pullback power and fast feed speed is available. The Atlas Cyclone operating system features full-width platforms and a straightforward console layout. The torque limit control allows the head torque to be matched with threaded casing torque specifications. In clean holes, casing can be set with the drawworks. The table swings out and the back half retracts to open up the whole centralizer for large casing and tools. With the bushings removed, there is a clear 20-inch (508-millimetre) opening at the table and up the derrick.

The fast feed and drawworks can be operated simultaneously, speeding up the drilling process. These advantages also apply to coming out of the hole. You can trip with the rotary head or the drawworks. The new 30,000-pound (13,608-kilogram) single line drawworks and pipe spinner options provide the fastest way out of the hole. The derrick and feed system incorporates large-diameter, nylon-composite, top and bottom sheaves with large bearings and shafts. This design greatly reduces fatigue on the feed cables and improves mechanical efficiency. The result: longer cable life and reduced fuel consumption to operate the feed system.

Laibe 2010 Versa-Drill V-100NG

The V-100NG can be equipped with 300/200 or 600/200 air, 3×4 centrifugal mud pump, 5×6 piston pump, 5-1/2 x 8-inch piston pump, line oiler, water injection (9 or 25 gallons per minute), plus a 10- or 15-rod carousel. It also offers an automated pipe-handling system (500-foot capacity), a 12-18,000-pound capacity main winch, with swing job/extension, plus a 2-4,000-pound capacity auxiliary winch with swing jib. The V-100NG comes mounted on a Peterbilt 6×6 all-wheel-drive chassis (standard).

Foremost launches MAC25

Vermeer looks at things from a different angle

Capable of completing vertical and steep-angle geothermal loop installations, the D20x22FX Series II is also a fully functioning horizontal directional drill (HDD) that can install horizontal loops, as well as conventional utilities.

The rod loader is controlled by a single operator, and offers push-button access to 210 feet (64 metres) of onboard drill rod without the use of winches or hand loading. Self-propelled on rubber tracks, the machine treads lightly and can access confined spaces, making it ideal for backyard retrofit geothermal installations.
