High levels of manganese in water supply attributed to start of advisory

British Columbia – The province’s Okanagan Indian Band is celebrating the end of a four-year-long drinking water advisory attributed to elevated levels of manganese. A water systems improvement project was recently completed, bringing an end to the advisory that began in 2019. Band Chief Byron Louis said the advisory’s end gives residents peace of mind in knowing clean water is again available and sufficient amounts are on hand for such emergencies as firefighting.
