BCGWA’s GM alerts members of ‘phishing’ scams that offer fraudulent items not endorsed by association
Don't respond to such emails, members warned
February 8, 2023 By Ground Water Canada
The British Columbia Ground Water Association is alerting its members that fraudulent scammers are trying to “pfish” information from them in the form of emails that offer a false registrant attendee list for the association’s upcoming convention.
The emails are originating from addresses such as @tradeshowads.com, often attempting to sell or offer fraudulent items that are not endorsed or provided by the BCGWA.
Do not respond to any emails about the BCGWA that are not from @BCGWA.org, BCGWA general manager Dave Mercer warns, advising members should not click on any links that are in emails that are not directly from the association.
The BCGWA does not release its registrant attendee list to anyone. Members who are contacted by someone offering an attendee list or similar is advised to notify the association and provide any details regarding such calls or emails.
