Boil-water advisory issued for Bow Island residents in Alberta following water main break

Tanker trucks have filled shortfall in interim

Calgary – A broken water main discovered earlier this week has led to a boil-water advisory issued for the Town of Bow Island by Alberta Health Services.

The health agency said a problem near the local water treatment plant may have compromised the community’s water quality. The water supply has since been turned off until the necessary repairs are made.

Tanker trucks have been providing water in the meantime, but residents have been told they must bring their water to a boil for at least one minute before using once access to water has been restored.

Testing of the water once the problem is resolved must also be completed before it’s deemed safe.
