Boil-water advisory issued for Kawartha Lakes-area residents following power failure

December 13, 2021  By Ground Water Canada

Kawartha Lakes, Ont. – A weekend power outage at the city’s water treatment plant in Norland has left Norland residents in the Kawartha Lakes area without water.

Municipal water is temporarily unavailable to residents who rely on the city’s drinking water system. Those without an alternative water source can acquire bottled water at the water treatment plant. Once power has resumed, a boil-water advisory will take effect. The advisory will be lifted once samples have been deemed acceptable by the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit.

Water should be boiled for at least a minute at a full boil before it is used for consumption. Showering is permissible as long as no water is swallowed.
