Boil-water advisory issued to First Nations communities in St. Thomas, Ont. area

St. Thomas, Ont. – Two First Nations communities near here are being advised to boil their water before consuming it.

A boil-water advisory has been issued for residents of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation and the Munsee-Delaware Nation after their drinking water was declared unsafe. It has yet to be determine why the declaration was made.

Door-to-door delivery of drinkable water to affected residents was to begin today.

The boil-water advisory suggests water be boiled at least one minute and allowed to cool before it can be used for cooking, teeth-brushing, drinking and other uses geared toward consumption. No word has been given as to the duration of the advisory.
