British Columbia’s first geothermal power plant begins second round of testing
120-degree water to heat greenhouses

Fort Nelson, B.C. – Testing for Fort Nelson First Nation’s geothermal power initiative begins its second round next week. The testing is to ensure the region’s groundwater is commercially viable for geothermal electricity and heat production. The geothermal plant is British Columbia’s first, and will use 120-degree water from upwards of 2,500 metres below the surface to provide year-round heat to greenhouse operations.
