Bypass remains in effect in Iqaluit until permanent tank solution is installed

Iqaluit, Nunavut – A multi-tank bypass is still in operation here until the installation of a permanent solution is made. As the water crisis in Iqaluit continues, water is being pumped from Lake Geraldine to the reservoir and distribution system. A timeline for a permanent solution remains to be determined. Sampling of water and monitoring of hydrocarbons is ongoing. After it appeared a two-month-long water emergency in late 2021 was resolved, residents began to detect the smell of fuel in their water in January, re-launching the crisis.
