Damage to tent covering purified water tanks puts Iqaluit military operation on hold
November 25, 2021 By Ground Water Canada
Iqaluit – The operation to pump potable water from the Sylvia Grinnell River for residents of Iqaluit in Nunavut has been suspended by the Canadian military following the collapse of a tent that covered purified water holding tanks. Military personnel are working on a plan to resume the operation they had recently extended. The Canadian Armed Forces are running two temporary water purification units to enable local residents to fill jugs of drinkable water. The city’s drinking water supply was deemed unsuitable for consumption on Oct. 12 after diesel fuel had contaminated the city’s water supply. Nunatsiaq News report | READ MORE
