Drinking water advisories aren’t just an Indigenous issue; they impact all Canadians: researcher

One in every six First Nations community in Canada continued to deal with drinking water advisories at the start of 2022. Experts say it’s not just an Indigenous issue, but one that affects all Canadians. An Indigenous cultural anthropologist and water researcher says we’re destroying water at a rapid pace. Groundwater is being extracted faster than it can be naturally replenished in many areas in the world, she says, adding cannot be disrespected, violated or contaminated.
