Federal government invests in water filtration device

Sudbury, Ont. – The Canadian government has invested in a water filtration system made by Activated White Ltd. of Sudbury, Ont.
The funds come through the Build in Canada Innovation Program, which aims to connect Canadian innovators with their first customer and help generate sustainable economic growth in Canadian communities, Public Services and Procurement Canada said in a news release.
The company received a $104,075 contract for its Activated White Portable Water Filtration System.
The innovation is a form of polymer resin that filters water by absorbing various contaminants, including sulphur and hydrocarbons such as oil, gas, and diesel. The innovation will be tested by Indigenous Services Canada.
Through the program, Public Services and Procurement Canada bridges federal departments that have an operational need with businesses that can fill the need. Purchasing departments test the innovations in real-life settings and provide feedback and a first reference.
