First Nation chief optimistic settlement will bring clean drinking water to community

Curve Lake, Ont. – The Curve Lake First Nation’s existing water treatment plant – constructed in the 1980s – has inadequately been disinfecting water, resulting in 10 to 15 boil-water advisories issued annually. The community’s chief says she is optimistic clean water will soon be available following a federal court approval of a water class action settlement in which about $6 billion is being allocated for safe drinking water on reserves.
