Groundwater contamination feared at site of oil sands mine

Alberta – A massive leak from a tailings pond at the Kearl oil sands mine in northern Alberta is worse than expected, leaders from the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation say. Members of the First Nation were recently granted access to the spill site and said they found toxic water remaining on the ground in an uncontained area next to streams and a pond.
