First Nation’s drinking water advisory now 27 years old, and plastic bottles are piling up

Neskantaga First Nation, Ont. – Plastic water jugs and bottles have been piling up in the community for the past 27 years during a record-long drinking water advisory, and residents want Ottawa to do something about it. The fly-in community north of Thunder Bay has endured the longest drinking water advisory of any First Nation community in Canada. Although Ottawa ships water regularly to the community, it doesn’t bring back most of the empty containers, and the area doesn’t have waste pickup or recycling. CBC News report | READ MORE
