First Nations Drinking Water Settlement could compensate as many as 142,000 individuals

Canada’s recently-announced multi-billion-dollar water settlement may compensate as many as 142,000 individuals and 250 First Nations who have not had access to clean water. Many of those affected have had to boil their water before safely consuming it for several years. As recently as a few days ago, short-term drinking water advisories were issued in 23 communities that ranged from boil-water to do-not-consume advisories.
