Funding for Lake Simcoe restoration project could receive support of Barrie
Shoreline mitigation, stream restoration among project's plans
April 4, 2022 By Ground Water Canada
Barrie, Ont. – City council will decide tonight if it wishes to support federal funding for the restoration of Lake Simcoe. The city’s support would represent a healthy percentage of the Freshwater Action Plan fund. Several measures would be undertaken with the funding, including shoreline mitigation, stream restoration and stormwater quality management. Targeted waters include tributaries of Sophia Creek, Kidd’s Creek, Bunkers Creek, Dyments Creek, Hotchkiss Creek, Whiskey Creek, Lovers Creek, and Hewitts Creek. The motion before Barrie council also includes improvements to contaminated watershed sites and upgrades to wastewater and stormwater plants. Barrie Today report | READ MORE
