Gas drilling museum marks 20 years with open house

Rainham Centre, Ont. – The Canadian Drilling Rig Museum celebrated its 20th anniversary with a weekend-long open house that not even heavy rain on Saturday could dampen.

Rigs, pumps, stationary engines as well as vintage cars were on display to help bring to live the history of gas well drilling at the museum’s property at Rainham and Kohler roads in Haldimand County in Ontario.

The museum’s purpose is to maintain and expand its faciity to house, exhibit, interpret and preserve the artifacts and archives of the natural gas industry. “Friends of the Rig” also run an outreach program of education, tours and events.

They are always looking for volunteers and financial support to keep the gas drilling heritage alive.
