Grants offered to decommission Niagara water wells and improve local water quality

Niagara – Grants are being offered for the decommissioning of water wells in the region with the aim of protecting and restoring water quality and diverse habitats. A communications specialist with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority says if an unused well isn’t properly decommissioned, it poses a risk to groundwater supplies which could be contaminated with E. coli or other pollutants.
