Groundwater concerns thwarted with removal of derelict cars from NWT gravel pit

Fort Liard, NWT – Several derelict cars have been removed from a gravel pit here in an effort to prevent groundwater contamination and other environmental concerns. The Northwest Territories government says the removal of the vehicles means there is no longer an environmental concern. It was feared the seepage of paint, battery acid and oil could make its way into the groundwater, posing a hazard to wildlife and the local environment. Cabin Radio report | READ MORE
