Groundwater may have yet-to-be-identified environmental functions: researchers
Groundwater largest source of water on land
January 20, 2022 By Ground Water Canada
There is 100 times more groundwater on the earth than there is freshwater on the surface, according to an article co-written by a professor from the University of Saskatchewan’s department of civil, geological and environmental engineering and school of environment and sustainability. Grant Ferguson and his co-author from the University of Arizona say groundwater, and not ice sheets, is the largest source of water on land. The authors add groundwater may have environmental functions yet to be identified. To read the full article, originally published in The Conservation, can be read here.
