Groundwater protection of Grand River watershed needs to be stepped up: coalition

Brantford, Ont. – A new advocacy group is calling for increased protection to safeguard groundwater throughout the Grand River watershed. Kevin Thomason of the Green Belt West Coalition says the watershed is one of the few areas in the world that is completely dependent upon groundwater. He added he wants to see headwaters and streams protected within the area, noting development in the Haldimand Tract should be kept to a minimum until Indigenous lands claims are resolved.
