Guelph lacks adequate groundwater sources to meet mandated growth to 2051
Sources outside city need to be looked at

Guelph, Ont. – The city has learned it lacks an adequate water supply to meet its growth needs to 2051 and should be looking at well sites in nearby communities. A staff report suggests a future limit will be attached to the city’s groundwater that future councils will have to consider in meeting provincially mandated growth targets. “Protection of our drinking water sources, within and outside of the municipal boundaries of Guelph is a priority due to our groundwater-based system,” the report states.
