High court’s groundwater ruling favors landowners

Feb. 28, 2012, Texas – In a ruling with possible wide-ranging effects on water regulation, the Texas Supreme Court sided with two landowners who objected to the Edwards Aquifer Authority's power to limit the pumping of ground water on their ranch, ruling ownership of ground water should be considered no different than oil or gas.
