Iqaluit council approves bypass construction for city’s water treatment plant

November 17, 2021  By Ground Water Canada

Iqaluit – A bypass around the contaminated ground tanks at Iqaluit’s water treatment plant is to be constructed as a means of helping to restore drinkable tap water to the local population. City council approved the measure on Monday during a special session. Water from Lake Geraldine would bring water around the tanks where it would go through an ultraviolet light treatment and chlorination process before it enters the above-ground holding tank and distribution system.
