Iqaluit residents urged to conserve water as temperature fluctuations put pipes at risk
Rapid expansion and contraction of pipes could cause breaks and leaks

Iqaluit, Nunavut – With warmer weather expected this week, issues with the city’s water pipes are apt to get worse. Rapid shifts in temperature cause pipes to expand and contract which tend to lead to breaks and leaks. The city is urging its residents to conserve water as a precaution with the coming warmer weather. Breaks and leaks have led to the temporary closure of some of the city’s buildings.
