Iqaluit water crisis surpasses 50 days, and there’s still no end in sight

Iqaluit, Nunavut – The water crisis here has now stretched beyond 51 days, and there’s no immediate end in sight. The crisis has created a staffing shortage in the community, prompting recreational staff to distribute bottled water. With city staff being shuffled around, workers are becoming burned out and other municipal services are being delayed. The city’s mayor says he’s equally frustrated by the number of Nunavut government requirements that must be met before Iqaluit’s do-not-consume order is rescinded.
