Lack of access to infrastructure not an excuse for Indigenous water advisories: consultant
Southern areas have same issues as the north

Toronto – Indigenous consultant and educator Lorena Garvey addressed the importance of water last week during a virtual presentation to coincide with World Water Day. She noted many Indigenous communities continue to deal with clean water advisories, with almost a dozen of them struggling for more than a decade. An assumption has been made that extreme northern communities have dealt with advisories because they don’t have access to the necessary infrastructure. Garvey countered that notion, however, saying there are many Indigenous communities in southern urban areas of Canada that are experiencing the same issues. The Varsity report | READ MORE
