York Region, Ont. – The crisis facing Lake Simcoe, in terms of the effects of climate change, phosphorus pollution and invasive species, is really an opportunity for change, a certified lake manager with the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority says. Brian Ginn says climate change is more optimism than it is crisis, and notes the lake is actually healthier today than it was in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s when it faced down pesticide issues, nutrient pollution and acid rain.
