Edmonton – A leaked document suggests the Alberta government waited a month before initiating an emergency response to one of the province’s worst oilsands tailings releases. Groundwater contaminated with oilsands tailings was found seeping from a pond at Imperial Oil’s Kearl mine, located north of Fort McMurray last May.
