Manganese has turned Drumheller’s water brown, but it’s still safe for consumption
Potassium permanganate added to rid discolour

Drumheller, Alta. – In spite of its appearance, tap water in Drumheller remains safe for consumption, Dave Brett, director of infrastructure services, says. The brownish discolouration is due to manganese in the water that became present during cleaning of one of the raw water cells.
