Military alters plan in its efforts to purify Iqaluit’s river water; crisis impacts local business

Iqaluit – Frigid temperatures have intervened in the Canadian military’s efforts to provide the city with purified drinking water. Now seven weeks into the community’s drinking water crisis, the onset of winter has put a strain on the military’s reverse osmosis system that was operating at the Sylvia Grinnell River. Military trucks are now being used to transport river water to an existing military facility where it can be purified without risk to personnel who were exposed to bitter winds.
