MOE says groundwater contamination risk minimal after Eastway Tank explosion

Ottawa – The risk of groundwater contamination is low following the Jan. 13 explosion at Eastway Tank, Pump & Meter, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment says. The explosion and subsequent fire, which killed six employees, has neighbouring residents concerned about the environmental impact on their drinking water supply. The MOE said the frozen ground and the immediate efforts of crews “greatly reduced” the potential for water table contamination. CBC News report | READ MORE
