Dec. 23, 2014 – The Puron
MBR ultrafiltration membrane bioreactor series is designed to help industrial and municipal
wastewater treatment systems reduce energy, minimize downtime and increase flux
in a cost-efficient manner.
Koch Membrane Systems, a developer and manufacturer of
innovative membranes and membrane filtration systems, designed the system.
The single-header design features reinforced PVDF
(polyvinylidene fluoride) hollow fibres that are fixed only at the bottom,
reducing the buildup of hair and fibrous materials that typically clog the
upper ends of other modules, said the company in a press release. The system is
designed so that solids and particulates, including bacteria, remain on the
outside, while permeate is drawn through the membrane to the inside of the
fibres.
The modules’ robust braided membrane fibres help promote
minimal downtime and breakage.
The modules feature an aeration nozzle in the centre of the
fibre bundle, scouring the entire length of the fibres and helping to minimize
power consumption.
