Toronto, Ont. – Hydrogeologist Peter Gray has been given the award of merit from the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

This award is given to a deserving individual member who, during the course of their career, has made significant contributions to the geoscience profession.

Gray is a vice-president and senior hydrogeologist for MTE Consultants Inc., in Kitchener, Ont. He has many years of experience on various types of projects ranging from international to domestic assignments, including ground water, surface water, soil and contaminant investigations, to the exploration, development and protection of municipal ground water and surface water supplies related to municipal supply and aggregare resources.

He has been responsible for the design, construction, supervision and testing of municipal wells and assessing the impacts of various contaminants on ground water and surface water resources.

Gray is one of the founding directors and is currrently a volunteer vice-president, and past president of the Children’s Water Education Council, a registered, non-profit charitable organization that in 1994 initiated the first Children’s Groundwater Festival to educate children on a variety of water-based concepts. This year water festivals will be held in 27 communities across Ontario, educating more than 60,000 children annually.


Gray was presented with the award at the APGO's annual general meeting on June 14 in Toronto.
