IAH launches mentorship scheme

May 29, 2019  By Ground Water Canada

The International Association of Hydrogeologists has opened a mentoring scheme to support IAH members in three areas: scientific knowledge, career options and pathways, and practical experience.

In its recent newsletter the IAH said mentors are needed to provide advice and technical knowledge on various topics within the many strands of hydrogeological science; to provide guidance on job types and locations, CVs, interviews, networking, courses and training openings; and to provide practical experience including sharing case studies, local hydrogeological knowledge of specific regions or aquifer types.

The program is accepting new applications from mentees (receivers of advice) and mentors (givers of advice).

Members can find more information on the association’s website. Non-members can find out more about joining IAH here.

Demand for mentors continues to outstrip supply,” he IAH said in the release. “Please, if you could give a little time to help support mentees, we know it would be appreciated. Volunteering as a mentor does not take up as much time as you might think.”
