Dec. 28, 2017, Netherlands: A consortium will demonstrate software that monitors ground water in desert areas using Internet of Things and satellite Earth observation technologies.

Water-monitoring service Blue-Value will demonstrate the technology for selected parties during the International Water Summit in Abu Dhabi from Jan. 15-18, 2018, the company said in a news release.

Blue-Value uses Internet of Things (IoT) and Earth observation technologies with the goal of measuring, monitoring and monetizing water resources in arid areas, the release said.

Blue-Value enables services like bulk water abstraction billing, environmental reporting, automated ground water well monitoring, and water optimization for landscaping, agriculture, oil, gas, mining and governments.

“We will be very pleased to meet new partners from different industries in the region that have a shared interest in optimizing water resources”, says Simon van den Dries, the company’s co-founder.

Blue-Value announced earlier in November that key partners were selected to support the Blue Desert project sponsored by the European Space Agency (ESA). These associates include the International Groundwater Resources Assessment Centre (IGRAC), Thuraya Satellites (UAE) and SamTech Middle East (UAE). Blue Desert will conduct a feasibility study for the development of an integrated monitoring and control service to assist customers in desert areas to manage ground water resources.
