NGWA announces annual award winners

Aug. 7, 2014, Westerville, OH – W. Richard Laton is the
recipient of the NGWA’s Ross L. Oliver Award for outstanding contributions to
the ground water industry.

recipient of the NGWA’s Ross L. Oliver Award for outstanding contributions to
the ground water industry.

The National Ground Water Association recently announced the
recipients of its 2014 awards, which will be presented this December during the
NGWA Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

Longtime NGWA member W. Richard Laton, PhD, PG, CHG, CPG, is
the recipient of the Ross L. Oliver Award for outstanding contributions to the
ground water industry. Laton is an associate professor of hydrogeology at
California State University, Fullerton.

Fred Molz, PhD, research professor and distinguished
scientist emeritus at Clemson University, Anderson, S.C., received the M. King
Hubbert Award for major contributions to ground water science.

Henry Baski, Baski Inc., Englewood, Colo.; Richard Henkle,
Garden City, Ks.; and  Steven P.
Maslansky, Maslansky GeoEnvironmental, Prescott, Ariz., received Life Member
Awards.

James Rumbaugh, Environmental Simulations Inc., Reinholds,
Penn., received the Technology Award.

The late Ralph Cadwallader, Loop Tech International Inc.,
Crabbs Prairie, Texas, and the Miami Conservancy District, Dayton, Ohio, were
honoured with Special Recognition Awards.

U.S. Senator Rob Portman, representative for Ohio, was given
the Groundwater Protector Award.

Beverly L. Herzog, Champaign, Ill., received the Standard
Bearer Award.

Essential Management Solutions LLC, former Herington, Ks.,
Army Air Base Project, was the recipient of the Outstanding Groundwater Project
Award and Groundwater Remediation Award.

Divisional Awards


Paul Barlow, PhD, U.S. Geological Survey, Northborough, Mass.,
and Stanley Leake, U.S. Geological Survey, Tucson, Ariz., received the John Hem
Award for significant scientific or engineering contributions to the
understanding of ground water. 

W. Richard Laton, PhD, PG, CHG, CPG, California State
University, Fullerton, Santa Ana, Calif., received the Keith E. Anderson Award
for outstanding contributions to NGWA’s Scientists and Engineers Division.

Kris Jackson, Pentair, Delevan, Wis., was the recipient of
the Manufacturers Division Special Recognition Award.

Mark Durham, Gicon Pumps & Equipment Ltd., Abernathy,
Texas, was named Supplier of the Year.
