North Bay, Ont. – The Environmental Protection Agency’s new PFAS advisories about safe levels of the microscopic chemicals found in drinking water could have an impact upon drinking water standards in Canada. The City of North Bay is uncertain how the EPA report will impact Ontario’s and Canada’s PFAS regulations. Of particular concern is an area of the Jack Garland Airport that had been used for firefighter training from the 1970s to 1990s which, during testing in 2017, found the Lees Creek waterway was polluted with PFAS from the upstream military base.
