Nunavut MLA says resolution to Iqaluit’s water struggle likely still years away

Ontario company awarded design contract for infrastructure upgrades

Iqaluit, Nunavut – A resolution to the city’s struggle to access clean drinking water is likely still years away, says the local member of the territory’s legislative assembly. The capital city was told in April its water treatment plant would return to service following its shutdown because of fuel contamination. Despite the federal government’s injection of $214 million to repair the infrastructure, it likely will take another three years before the issue is resolved, MLA Adam Arreak Lightstone says.
