Nunavut MP calls on federal government to end Iqaluit’s water emergency

Iqaluit, Nunavut – A call has been made for the federal government to earmark $180 million to end the capital city’s water emergency. Nunavut MP Lori Idlout said it’s an issue of basic human rights, adding Iqaluit needs a new water source and treatment plant. The city is under another boil-water advisory following the recent discovery of fuel contamination. The smell of fuel in the water supply led to a two-month water crisis in Iqaluit that spanned the months of October, November and December. Toronto Star report | READ MORE
