Oil spill of more than 20,000 litres in Sault Ste. Marie prompts drinking water advisory

A significant oil spill in Sault Ste. Marie has prompted a drinking water advisory from Algoma Public Health. At this time, the municipal water supply remains unaffected, but some of the more than 20,000 litres of a heavy machinery lubrication oil that spilled Thursday into the St. Marys River, entered the city’s wastewater system.
