Compliance officers starting to crack down on users without groundwater licences

Vancouver Island – Compliance officers are starting to crack down on island farmers using groundwater from the Koksilah watershed without a licence. As ongoing drought worsens on Vancouver Island and other parts of British Columbia, unlicensed farmers are being told to shut off their water. Farmers and other commercial users of groundwater had been urged to apply for a groundwater licence for the past six years. Those who failed to meet the deadline are now paying the price.
