Ontario’s well water users aren’t getting the same drinking water protection as municipal users
Updated report cites shortfalls

Muskoka, Ont. – Drinking water reform was launched a couple of decades ago in Ontario following several deaths and illnesses in Walkerton, but even after such time disproportionate problems remain that are impacting Indigenous communities. The Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA) has released an updated report on Ontario’s drinking water stating those who access their water from wells, including Indigenous communities, aren’t getting the same protection as those who get their water from municipal systems.
