Piled up pig carcasses – drowned in B.C. floods – are no threat to contaminate water: recycler

Princeton, B.C. – The carcasses of about 10,000 pigs weighing about 700 tons have been piled up near the Similkameen River in preparation for recycling. Members of the Upper Similkameen Indian Band suggest the decomposing animals, which drowned during British Columbia’s late 2021 flooding, pose an environmental hazard with the potential to pollute the water. The owner of the industrial composting facility assigned to recycle the pigs, however, says there is no risk, adding the controversy is based on misinformation. CBC News report | READ MORE
